Meet Rob or Trace around 6 am and relax within the comfortable tour vehicle. As the golden rays highlight the warm, red tones of the landscape, you’ll head south on the Stuart Highway before turning onto the Arnhem Highway on your way to Fogg Dam. It is here that you will marvel at the abundance of local wildlife – such as birds, crocodiles, snakes and more – getting ready for their day, as you sip on a lovely cup of tea and enjoy our homemade mango muffins.
Following your morning tea at Fogg Dam, you’ll re-join the Stuart Highway on your way to Batchelor, the gateway to Litchfield National Park. Here, we'll visit the Coomalie Aboriginal Culture Centre and the Batchelor Museum. The perfect location to enjoy an early BBQ lunch set under the plentiful shade of a majestic Tamarind tree.
Satisfied we make our way onwards to Litchfield. You’ll find yourself in awe more than once, as you explore this unique and ancient wilderness. You may choose to walk along paths fringed with monsoonal rainforests, past creeks and onto cliffs for that perfect photo opportunity. Perhaps you’d like to cool off with a swim under a clear, spring-fed waterfall, or just relax on the banks, admiring the views. Whatever mood you are in, there is an activity to suit you.
As we journey we learn of the amazing history that this gorgeous place has seen. The ancient rocks bearing witness to a millennia of change, shared with the first peoples of the region, European settlement and present day life. All are topics for discussion. As too a visit to Australia’s first uranium mine, Rum Jungle which adds reality to today’s world of competition for resources as we struggle for balance.
With the sun slowly heading for the horizon we turn for home accompanied by another stunning Top End sunset arriving at your accommodation around 7pm.
